Paper F study group

Paper F study group

Would you like to have constant support, motivation, and a well-structured study plan during your preparation for the Paper F exam?

After receiving a lot of positive feedbacks on my previous Pre-exam study groups and the first Paper F study group and seeing the candidates’ results, I am excited to organise a study group for the second Paper F exam (2026) too.

The aim of this group is to create a friendly, supportive group of EQE candidates and go through all EPC and PCT topics together, by discussing multiple legal questions each week. The goal is to study a little every week so that you will not feel stressed and overwhelmed in the final weeks before your exam.

We will spend most of our time on preparing for the legal part, but I have also included around 5 claims analysis exercises in the study plan (increased from last year based on candidate feedback). A strong legal foundation will also help you in the next modules (especially M2 and M4).

The group will run from 15th September to the end of February, finishing exactly one week before your Paper F exam (2 March). All meetings will take place online on Monday afternoons so that you can also attend EPO’s Paper F course on Thursdays.

More information below.

Feedbacks from the first Paper F study group participants

"The balance between a relaxed atmosphere and a serious, in-depth consideration of the material was refreshing for me. Even with topics I thought I had adequately gone through on my own, I found that there was always a tip or additional aspect to consider that came up during the meetings, and at the end of it all, I felt not just prepared for Paper F, but that I had received a solid foundation to prepare for the upcoming main papers"

Lina

„Zsofia's Paper F course and her study material helped me a lot when preparing for the exam and I can only recommend the course! It is well structured, covers all relevant topics, and with Zsofia as a teacher, reaching the peak of the mountain felt only half as tough!“

Mauritius Klein

“You were a great tutor. Always patient, very competent and you gave us the right information on the right, oriented towards the knowledge of the participants.

I felt well prepared and I felt comfortable with my reference books. I would say the study group was the key to pass!

The format of the study group was perfect for my needs. Over several months, topic by topic, with a doable amount of well selected question, great other participants and helpful overviews and summaries. You always have addressed our questions and needs and you flexibly adapted the program! 🙏

O.

“The Paper F study group provides an excellent introduction to the fundamentals of the EPC and PCT. The sessions are well-structured and full of practical tips for approaching the exam.”

Katerina

"Zsofia goes above and beyond to support everyone in the group. She provides a well-structured and focused preparation, with short introductions to each topic that really helped in understanding the material. Her dedication and knowledge made a huge difference in my success."

Benedek

“I really loved your study group. I like having a tutor who is remote and detached from my office, it keeps me accountable in my spare time. In my head I see you as like my personal trainer but for EQE’s 😊

I always appreciated how generous you were with your time and your willingness to stay late and answer questions.”

Jamie

"Zsofia runs an efficient and effective tutoring practice. The weekly sessions are informative, collaborative and tailored to the participants' needs. I highly recommend this course to anyone preparing for Paper F, especially if you're seeking an interactive study group!"

James

“Your way of teaching made everything easy to follow, and the class interactions were helpful. I also feel like we were prepared for more than just Paper F, which gives me more confidence going into the next exams.

The in-session practice of homework questions was particularly effective. It really taught us how to find the answers during the exam itself, which is essential. The pace of teaching was spot-on, steady and manageable.”

"The Paper F study group really helped me stay on track with my preparation. I appreciated the weekly homework, the quality of the study materials, and the structure of the course. Zsofia’s way of teaching made things easy to follow, and the class interactions were genuinely helpful. I’m feeling confident about moving on to papers M1–M4. Thanks so much, Zsofia!"

Alicia Ortega

‘There are many things that I liked: first, the length was appropriate. Yes, it was weekly and working and doing the homework and attending the meetings was very time consuming but I think we covered everything without rushing and I like to have time to process all the information.

Also, it was really helpful to meet other people going through the same process.

The weekly homework helped a lot to integrate all the new topics, and it was also good to develop my own system to search in the books and materials and to properly reference and make my own notes.

Also, Zsofia, you were very supportive, the tips you shared were great and the summaries in the last weeks were gold 🥇”

Irene

“Thank you so much for the amazing paper F study group!

The idea of consistent preparation and beginning about six months prior to the exam was very helpful and gave me a positive feeling for the exam.

Your clear explanations, dedicated effort, and remarkable patience were great!

If I had to pass the Paper F exam again, I would definitely join the study group again.”

22-week long
Paper F study group

Dates: 15 September 2025 - 23 February 2026

(The Paper F exam will be held on Monday, 2 March 2026.)

Places: Minimum 8, maximum 15 (on a first come, first served basis)

Meetings: Mondays 17:00 CET (16:00 UK time)
The meetings are usually about 120 minutes long (with one break), but this is a bit flexible depending on the questions and our discussion.

All meetings are online, via Zoom.

What I changed from last year:

  • including 5 claims analysis exercises instead of 2;

  • one more session for legal discussion;

  • longer meetings, because 90 minutes were never enough last year;

  • rearranging the topics a tiny bit based on the experience from the first Paper F study group, and to have an even better study plan and a small revision of PCT in February;

  • moving the meetings to Mondays so that you can attend the EPO’s Paper F course meetings on Thursdays.

Study plan: After an introductory session, we will spend 4 weeks on studying PCT, then we will dive into EPC. Altogether we will have 9 EPC related sessions preparing for the legal part and 4 meetings preparing for the claims analysis part. In the final 4 weeks, we will discuss old exams (also 3 claims analysis exercises).

The study plan also includes a 3-week long winter break during the Christmas period and the discussion of the legal parts of 7 old Pre-exams and the 2025 Paper F exam (in the last 4 weeks). The exact, detailed study plan will be shared with the members, after signing up.

Method: I will provide an overview of a certain legal topic and then give you homework to practice that topic. Every week, you will have to answer 6-8 legal questions (from DeltaPatents ‘L’ book) until the next meeting. I will always try to pick different questions within a topic so that we can cover as many different issues as possible. During our weekly online meetings (on Mondays) we will discuss the homework questions, participants’ questions. This way, you can also learn from the other candidates. We usually also discuss the frequent mistakes and how you could find the answer in the different reference books. Our meetings are informal and interactive (but I will never force you to participate). Furthermore, I will provide a few quiz questions during the meetings to keep practicing analysing questions and how to find the answers (and to keep you awake 😀).

This study group program includes:

  • 22 online group meetings with Zsofia (held via Zoom), each meeting about 120 minutes long;

  • Discussion of more than 200 legal questions (about 110 questions as homework questions, 85 questions from previous exams, and many quiz questions during the meetings), highlighting frequent mistakes and discussing difficulties;

  • Legal refresher of each topic (my own materials that I keep improving);

  • Discussion of the legal parts of 7 previous Pre-exams (and the 2025 Paper F exam);

  • Discussion of around 5 claims analysis exercises (one mock, 3 from old Pre-exams, one from the first Paper F exam);

  • Fully online meetings, allowing you to join from anywhere;

  • A copy of the recorded sessions (for the group members only) so that you can rewatch any parts of the meetings in case you want to revise or if you cannot join every meeting.

Of course, if you only have time for half of the questions or if you miss a few meetings, that is completely fine. Everyone has busier periods. I will record our meetings so that you can watch them later. (The recordings are never sold separately or given to anyone else. They are exclusively for Paper F study group members.)

Joining this study group comes at a weekly fee (natural persons can pay in 4 parts; every 5-6 weeks). Joining the group is only possible for the full period of the 6 months.

Correction of your answers is not included in the fee.

By joining a study group, you will also have the benefit of:

  • Safe space where you can ask any questions;

  • Accountability, constant support and motivation;

  • A well structured but realistic study plan covering all legal topics;

  • Informal meetings with the same small group of EQE candidates for about 6 months (you can even set up further meetings with them);

  • Summaries, short refreshers of important legal topics;

  • Growing your network of patent attorneys from all over Europe (who are going through the same);

  • Having a patient tutor. 😀

You should NOT join the study group, if you:

  • Are looking for magic tricks to pass the exam;

  • Would rather only study in the last few weeks before the exam;

  • Already have a study group at work whom you can study together regularly with;

  • Cannot or do not want to study on your own before/after our meetings;

  • Don’t have time to do the ‘homework’, i.e. answer the weekly legal questions;

  • Aren’t interested in discussing the EPC and PCT with other people;

  • Aren’t interested in other candidates’ questions and struggles.

Feedbacks from Pre-exam study group participants (2023 and 2024)

“Zsofia is a very good pre-EQE tutor. She is kind, patient and understands individual needs very well. I have got great help from the weekly classes and assignments.“

Jessie

“Zsofia‘s pre-exam course took me from having no clue about EPC and PCT to easily passing the pre-exam. The course is well structured and covers all relevant aspects, so that no open questions remain. And if they do, Zsofia will immediately reach out to whoever is competent and provide the answers as quickly as possible.

All in all it was a great course, and I already look forward to preparing for the main exam with Zsofia and Fillun again!”

Florian

“If it were not for the study group, I would never have made time to get that bit of revision in.  It was very helpful to be able to go through the material with a group of candidates in the same boat whilst having you there as the voice of reason to answer our tricky questions.”

B. G.

“I like that you provided summaries highlighting important points for each topic and differences between the PCT and EPC. I also like that you always take the time to answer all our questions and sometimes went out of your way to ask other tutors.”

A.

“Consistency and persistence win the game. This can't be any truer when it comes to preparing and conquering the EQE, especially the legal part. I like that Zsofia takes the time and puts in a lot of effort in preparing for the study groups. She's also very patient and responsive to all the doubts and questions that we posed. All in all, I would highly recommend Zsofia's study groups to anyone!”

Adeline

“Thank you very much for your attention and guidance, and for willing to sacrifice more of your time than initially scheduled. It's been a pleasure studying with you.“

E. G.

“I was a bit scared about the amount of material to learn alone, so I joined because I needed guidance and also motivation from a group. 😊 I also wanted to build up "an EQE network". I learned a lot about EPC and PCT! I liked the best the regularity and the short summaries to each topic.”

Natalia

“I joined the group primarily due to the weekly study plan created by an experienced person, and the opportunity to have someone available to answer questions. The consistent homework to solve legal questions provided by Zsofia proved beneficial, I achieved full marks on the legal part.”

Christian

“This is a course that really focuses on how to pass the exam, and gives you the tools to succeed. Thank you again for all your efforts.”

G. B.

“Thank so much to Zsofia for her pre-EQE course. Discussing so many legal questions and topics meant that even though the exam was harder this year I felt well prepared and there were no nasty surprises. Fingers crossed it is on to her Paper D groups next year!”

Chris

“Zsofia did an amazing job in structuring the content and in helping us to go through the topics each session.

I joined the group because I had no idea how to make plan for exam preparation: how to form learning blocks, which are the most important topics one should focus on, and also how profound the understanding of each of the topics must be. Having an experienced tutor like Zsofia gave me the feeling of security that I could have a successful exam preparation.

The atmosphere during the study sessions was very relaxed. It was almost like having an informal chat with friends every Friday evening.”

Benedikt

“I can't thank you enough for the passion you've invested in helping me understand how patent law works. I truly believe that without your guidance, I wouldn't have been as well-prepared. In particular, I found the pre-exam course to be the most valuable. Your pre-exam course helped me grasp the EPC and PCT timelines and truly understand the underlying logic of patent law.

This solid preparation paid off, as I was very pleased with my performance in the pre-exam! Additionally, it greatly helped with my preparation for the D papers.”
